National Park Service - Spatial Ecologist and GIS Analyst
I worked for the Natural Resources Stewardship and Science, Water Resources Division conducting a variety of GIS and remote sensing analyses. One of the main projects was to develop bathymetric and benthic habitat maps for the 88 Ocean and Coastal National parks. Only a handful of the Ocean and Coastal Parks have maps of submerged resources and we aimed to create comprehensive bathymetric datasets and map products to establish baseline information. The Great Lakes was the region of focus and we aimed to create benthic habitat maps for five parks. Other projects I work on include historical photo analyses of a riparian area changes on the Snake Creek in Great Basin National Park, mangrove soil carbon estimations and science communication documents, cottonwood spatial distribution and growth analyses in Theodore Roosevelt National Park, wetland mitigation project development, and Great Lakes invasive mussel mapping.
